A major fire broke out at Butcher Island, a loading hub for petroleum products near Mumbai. As per sources, no casualties have been reported yet. Fire-fighters of Mumbai Port Trust, as well as the fire brigade teams, are working in tandem to douse the blaze. Butcher Island houses a marine oil terminal of Mumbai Port Trust. Oil tankers discharge crude at the terminal, and it is transported to refineries through submerged pipelines. After the fire broke out, vessels in the vicinity of the island have been moved to a distance as a precautionary measure.
