Kochi (Kerala), Nov 21 (ANI): A criminal case has been taken against elephant owner Iswaran Pillai for kidnapping an elephant. The elephant named Valanjambalam Ganapathy initially belonged to Iswaram, however, the elephant after killing two mahouts was secluded to a confined spot where it suffered injuries due to sun and rain. The elephant with wounded legs was taken by the Forest Department for treatment and case was filed against Iswaram for torturing the elephant. It was then taken to Eravathur. While the elephant was recovering, Iswaram kidnapped the elephant from the Forest Departments custody. The elephant was later found in Cochin and upon the direction of the Chief Wildlife Warden, the Forest Department took up the care of the elephant and fresh case was filed against Iswaran Pillai.
