Manipur, Nov 04 (ANI): After 15 years of staying away from professional Kabaddi, the six teams from Manipur are now gearing up to make a foray at the national and international Kabaddi. Four men and two women teams from the state have recently participated in the 63rd L. Indrajit Singh Memorial Senior State Kabaddi Championship held under the aegis of Manipur State Kabaddi Association at Sports Authority of India, North East Regional office Indoor Stadium. Kabaddi is being played in Manipur since 1950s. In 1974, there were about 120 kabaddi teams hailing from across Manipur. Due the financial crunch and rise in insurgency, the sport faced a setback and there was hardly any tournament happened in the last one decade. Now, the players are enthusiastic enough to make Manipur proud by winning the national and international events. Kabaddi sport is gaining the popularity worldwide.
