Kanpur/New Delhi, Dec 17 (ANI): Cold wave conditions coupled with dense fog disrupted normal life across northern India on Thursday as people struggled to go to work and get on with their daily chores. The cold weather showed no signs of abating in Uttar Pradesh, as rains and snowfall occurred in the upper reaches led to a further dropping of temperatures. People covered themselves in multiple layers of clothing, sat around bonfires and drank hot tea to keep themselves warm in Kanpur, where the mercury touched 3.4 degrees Celsius. Ramesh, a resident of the city, said the cold weather was affecting everyone, including those going to work and school children. Meanwhile, New Delhi experienced the coldest day of the season on Wednesday when the mercury plummeted to 4.2 degrees Celsius. The homeless sought refuge in night shelters to keep the biting cold at bay.
