Thrissur (Kerala), 05 May (ANI): Kerala, being a tradition rich state, celebrates the festival of Pooram every year. The seven day annual festival is celebrated in the name of goddesses Durga or Kali in different parts of Kerala. The festival began in the Thrissur district on Friday, which is famous for its Pooram celebrations. The sacred rituals were introduced in the Vadakkunnathan temple, where a large number of devotees gathered to participate in the rite. The ceremony included display of decorated elephants and the classical musical performances known as melam. The celebration lasts for a week and has several observances such as musical performances, ornamental display and fireworks.
