Darjeeling (West Bengal), June 18 (ANI): Indefinite strike called by the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) continued for the seventh consecutive day on Sunday morning. The shutdown's effect could be observed on the streets and markets of the hill town that has been boiling with frequent clashes. Tourists and visitors have begun moving out of town. So far, 36 policemen have been injured during the violence in this tourist destination. Workers of the GJM have been demanding a separate state of Gorkhaland and are also opposing the alleged imposition of Bengali as compulsory language in state schools. The Indian Army conducted a flag march to take stock of the situation.
