Sukna (West Bengal), August 03 (ANI): As the indefinite shutdown led by Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) entered its 49th day on Thursday, the Nari Morcha women’s wing of GJM observed a 12-hour relay hunger strike in Sukna, demanding a separate state named ‘Gorkhaland’. The protestors slammed the Centre for not noticing their demand and demanded to open dialogue in regard of ‘Gorkhaland’. The abandoned streets depict the effect of the strike as the region has been in a state of crisis with the local lives getting disrupted. There have been constant reports of violence amid the shutdown. Last week, the GJM supporters pelted stones on police officials and even set vehicles on fire while blocking the roads in Sukna.
